Philips Series 9 Cleaning Station

Hello All. I have 2 Philips Series 9 shavers that I alternately use. I find the cleaning station cartridge has to be replaced about every 2 weeks if that. I was on a cruise ship for a month recently and only brought the one shaver and one cleaning station. To my amazement the cartridge lasted almost the entire journey. I was starting to think that perhaps there was something wrong and so check the level of fluid periodically and it was always fine. Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts as to why this would happen?

ifuwill, welcome to Electric Razor Rap. That's an interesting observation. It could be that the climate and humidity on the cruise were different from what you're used to at home, which might have affected how often the cleaning station needed to be replenished. Additionally, when you're at home, you may be using the shaver more frequently or for longer periods of time, leading to the cartridge being used up faster. On the cruise, if you used it less or for shorter sessions, the cleaning station might not have been as strained. I encourage others to also weigh in with their thoughts and ideas about this.

Thanks for the update! That's interesting—since the humidity was lower on the ship, you'd think the cleaning fluid might evaporate faster. One possibility is that the continuous AC on the ship maintained a very stable temperature, which could have helped reduce fluid evaporation. At home, fluctuating temperatures might cause a bit more evaporation even with similar humidity levels. It does sound mysterious, though.
